Local businesses owned by war veterans demonstrate a significant potential not only for boosting the country’s economic resilience, but also for strengthening their communities. By providing quality and reliable services they help building a trustful environment, supporting local population and contributing to recovery processes.
Sviatoslav decided to launch his own business as a private entrepreneur in 2018. He opened a dental office for adults and children in the town of Berezhany in the Ternopil oblast. The number of customers was growing and there was a need to expand the range of services. Sviatoslav kept looking for new business development and investment opportunities, even under the conditions of the full-scale war.
In 2025, he took a EU4Business-EBRD Credit Line loan of EUR 12,310 from Oshchadbank. The funds were invested in a modern dental microscope Scaner MD-500. “Amongst the multiple advantages of this new equipment, the high-quality optical system with automatic lighting adjustment prevents the operator from eye strain even during long procedures. High precision, reliability and sterility allows patients to receive the best level of treatment,” Sviatoslav highlights.
As one of over 1.2 million Ukrainian war veterans, the entrepreneur was eligible for an additional grant funded by the European Union under the new initiative – “Veterans and War-Affected Persons Reintegration Window” (VRW). The total investment incentive reached 25% of the loan amount. With this funding, Sviatoslav managed to increase the level of operational safety and comfort, expand the range of customers and boost business development.
